Review: Spartan Chemical Company’s Consume® Product

You want a cleaner, odor eliminator, drain maintainer, or stain remover—or all four at once. Before you purchase one of these products, you want to know how well it works, its potential drawbacks, and how it’ll fit your facility’s needs. So, you’ve found Spartan Chemical Company’s multi-functional bacterial solution: Consume®.

Here at State Chemical, we manufacture and distribute chemical solutions, including D-Stroy®, a similar product to Consume®. We know that it can be confusing to figure out the real differences between products with the same function. You want to pick the more effective, cost-efficient option, but how do you get past the industry jargon to find out what that is?

Our goal is to help you make the right purchase for your facility, even if that is not our product. Therefore, we’ll be reviewing Consume® based on its applications, effectiveness, and best locations for use. After reading, you’ll know whether Consume® is the product for you.

How Consume® Works

Consume® is a biological product, meaning that it contains bacteria to digest organic waste and buildup. Think about the fats, oils, and greases (FOGs) that go down your drain. The bacteria in Consume® will eat this material so it doesn’t form clogs in your pipes. And it does the same with carpet stains, odors like those in dumpsters, and other organic waste.

By controlling this organic buildup, Consume® eliminates the source of odors. Plus, it comes in three scents: Vanilla (not available in Canada), Pleasant (not available in Canada), or unscented (only in Canada). This way, it can mask foul odors with more desirable scents.

Overall, Consume® does what its name suggests: consumes. Through this bacterial consumption of buildup, Consume® keeps your facility clean and odor-free.

Consume® Has Limited Scent Options

This being said, Consume® has limited scent options compared to some other products in the industry. If you’re in the U.S., your options are Vanilla or Pleasant. These are light enough scents that some won’t even notice them. However, for those with strong sensitivities or allergies to certain aromas, this can be a significant downside.

There are similar products on the market that offer unscented options. If you’re outside of Canada and looking for a fragrance-free product that controls odors without harming facility users with sensitivities, Consume® is not the best product for you. But if you prefer to mask odors and generally leave behind an airy, pleasant fragrance, Consume® is a strong choice.

Meanwhile, if you’re in Canada and prefer a scented product, Consume® is not the best product for you. Consume® (Canada) is only available unscented, so if you have the reverse problem, you’ll want to explore other options as well.

Consume® Can be Purchased Internationally

If you’re buying outside the U.S., you can still buy Consume®. Spartan Chemical Company has distributors in Asia, Europe, Central America, South America, the Middle East, North America, Oceania, and the Carribean. Not all products of this category have this designation, so this is a major benefit if you’re in an area not commonly sold to.

Consume® is Cost-Effective

Consume®’s prices are not publicly available, and we will never disclose another company’s prices. However, we know that Consume® is a cost-effective product at a fair price per ounce. With Consume®, you’ll get good value for what you pay.

How to Use Consume®

As with all industrial chemicals, when using Consume®, be sure to wear personal protective equipment (PPE). If you buy a gallon of Consume®, you’ll need to dilute it according to label instructions before using. Meanwhile, if you buy a quart, it’s alre

Consume® may cause stains on light-colored carpeting. Additionally, it should not be used with hot water, bleach, disinfectants, or chemical drain openers, as these items reduce product performance.

Use this product as advised by label instructions. If any product information conflicts with your intended usage, it’s best to explore other product options.
