Fragrance Cube 2-6 vs. Fragrance Factory
Fragrance Cube 2-6 vs. Fragrance Factory
You’re looking for the right fragrance system for smaller spaces within your facility, and that’s led you to consider two options from State Chemical: Fragrance Factory and the State Fragrance Cube 2-6. Both seem right for automatically fragrancing and deodorizing your space, but how do you know which one will actually work better for you?
State Chemical manufactures and distributes chemical solutions for a range of purposes, including air care. We understand that chances are you’re not an expert on commercial air fresheners. So, it’s our goal to answer your questions and provide the information needed so you can determine what your facility needs.
To stay in line with this goal, we’ll be comparing Fragrance Factory to the Fragrance Cube 2-6. After reading, you’ll understand how each system works and will know which option is better for your situation.
What is the Fragrance Cube 2-6?
First, what is the Fragrance Cube 2-6?
The Fragrance Cube 2-6 is a Bluetooth-operated, cold-air diffusion fragrance system for spaces between 2,000 and 6,000 cubic feet. You can hang it on the wall, and it will consistently dispense a fragrance throughout your area as you choose. Fragrance Cube 2-6s can run as frequently as 24 hours a day or as infrequently as you program them.
Typically, the Fragrance Cube 2-6 needs fragrance refills every 30 to 60 days and battery replacements every 90 days.
What is Fragrance Factory?
In comparison, Fragrance Factory is a wall-mounted fragrance dispenser that uses a whisper-quiet fan to dispense gel pack fragrances known as Fragrance Paks. It is typically used in similar spaces to the Fragrance Cube 2-6 and has three settings: on one minute and off for five minutes, on one minute and off for 15 minutes, or on 24 hours a day. It can also be programmed to be activated by a light sensor.
Fragrance Paks need to be replaced each month while batteries need to be replaced every three months.
The Fragrance Cube 2-6 is More Customizable
Both systems are customizable to different needs, but the Fragrance Cube 2-6 has more customization options. It can be programmed to only run on certain days of the week or for certain hours of the day. Meanwhile, while the Fragrance Factory fan can be programmed to only run when the lights are on or at certain intervals, it doesn’t necessarily offer the same assurance as far as set hours of the day unless you’re running it 24/7.
The gel depletes over time whether the fan is running or not, but it will do so more slowly without the fan running. This is because the fan’s primary function is to push the fragrance out into the space. When the fan is shut off, the fragrance doesn’t spread out as much.
If customization isn’t a big deal to you, Fragrance Factory or the Fragrance Cube 2-6 will each suit you fine. But if you’re interested in scenting beginning a half hour before employees arrive, for example, you might prefer the customization of the Fragrance Cube 2-6.
Fragrance Factory Works More Effectively in Smaller Spaces
If you want to fragrance a space with a very small cubic footage, such as an elevator or a small restroom, Fragrance Factory is for you. Able to treat up to 2,000 cubic feet, it falls on the lower end of what the Fragrance Cube 2-6 can treat.
So, let’s say that you have a bathroom that’s 13 feet long and 10 feet wide with eight-foot ceilings (1,040 ft³). You decide to use a Fragrance Cube 2-6 to fragrance it. But customers start complaining that the scent is overpowering and gives them a headache.
Here, the Fragrance Cube 2-6 was the wrong choice. While 2,000 cubic feet probably doesn’t sound like much more than 1,000, the Fragrance Cube 2-6 is capable of fragrancing spaces up to six times the size of that bathroom. When you concentrate that strong fragrance into such a small space, it will be overwhelming.
Meanwhile, the Fragrance Factory would be at the perfect level for a bathroom of that size. It will be strong enough to cover odors and add a scent personality but won’t be so strong that it hits visitors hard when they enter the room. It’s all about striking the right balance for your space.
The Fragrance Cube 2-6 is Better for Larger Spaces
In this same vein, the Fragrance Cube 2-6 is better for slightly larger spaces. When you’re investing in a fragrance diffuser, you want the fragrance to be noticeable. If you use Fragrance Factory for a space too large, it might not be enough to make an impact.
Suppose you want to fragrance a meeting room that is 20 feet long and 15 feet wide with 10-foot ceilings (3,000 ft³). While you know that the Fragrance Factory is limited to 2,000 ft³, you don’t want to overpower the room, so you use a Fragrance Factory anyway.
You give the system time to work, but the scent is mild and never seems to fully kick in. There’s not much of a difference now compared to when you were using handheld air fresheners.
Here, the Fragrance Cube 2-6 would have been the perfect scent range for the space. It’s understandable to be concerned about an overpowering fragrance, but if your space fits within a product's cubic footage guidelines, choose that product.
Consider your cubic footage and choose the Fragrance Cube 2-6 if your treatment area is 2,000–6,000 ft³.
Fragrance Factory’s Performance May Vary by Climate
Since fragrance systems dispense fragrance through the air, the conditions of your climate may affect their performance. We’ve found that this is true for Fragrance Factory.
Fragrance Factory utilizes water-based gel packs that evaporate to release an aroma into the air. In different climates, evaporation can be affected by temperature, humidity, and more. This does not necessarily mean that Fragrance Factory will not work in your climate, but it is possible that fragrances will be less noticeable in very hot climates, for example.
In these cases, it would be better to invest in the Fragrance Cube 2-6.
The Fragrance Cube 2-6 is More Consistent Throughout the Month
Another factor to consider is fragrance consistency. Because of the different methods through which the Fragrance Cube 2-6 and Fragrance Factory work, their performance consistency differs throughout the month.
As the Fragrance Paks evaporate through the month, their potency declines. On day one, they will be at maximum strength, but on day 30, the scent will be at its least noticeable.
Meanwhile, the Fragrance Cube 2-6 is consistent throughout the month (or the 60-day period, depending on which program you’re on). As long as the fragrance is refilled as necessitated by your program agreement, it will diffuse the same concentration of scent throughout the period.
If scent consistency is important to you, choose the Fragrance Cube 2-6. If fragrance decline is lower on your list of priorities, Fragrance Factory will still work for you.
The Fragrance Cube 2-6 is Generally More Expensive than Fragrance Factory
For more price-conscious buyers, the Fragrance Factory may be more appealing since it tends to be a bit cheaper per month compared to the Fragrance Cube.
Typically, the price of a single Fragrance Cube 2-6 will be $20–$40 per month. Meanwhile, Fragrance Factory is generally between $15 and $30 each month.
Both the Fragrance Cube 2-6 and Fragrance Factory Include Service and Installation
Something that differentiates the Fragrance Cube 2-6 and Fragrance Factory from other companies in the market is the fact that when you enter a program agreement for either of them, service, installation, refills, and batteries are included in the cost of your program.
This means that you won’t have to manage the upkeep of either system or remember when to refill the fragrance. Instead, a State Chemical representative will regularly service your location and keep you up to date with the supplies your system needs.
