What are Handheld Cleaning Chemicals?
First, it’s important to establish what we mean when we say “handheld cleaning chemicals.”
Typically, these will be what you first think of when you picture cleaning products—spray bottles, five-gallon pails, and other bottles containing various cleaning products. Some will come ready to use, while others will need to be diluted by hand. In any case, handheld cleaning chemicals usually come in smaller quantities than they would in chemical dilution systems.
Handheld cleaning chemicals can be commercial grade, for household use, bought at the store, or purchased online. They’re very versatile, with a wide range of options and applications.
What is a Chemical Dilution System?
Meanwhile, a chemical dilution system is a machine that automatically dilutes a concentrated cleaning chemical to the correct ratio. Then, it easily dispenses into a spray bottle, mop bucket, or other piece of equipment.
Chemical dilution systems typically support chemicals such as floor cleaners, glass cleaners, bathroom cleaners, all-purpose cleaners, carpet cleaners, degreasers, disinfectants, and sanitizers. They are often used in janitorial closets, kitchens, three-compartment sinks, garages, and other places where commercial facilities frequently need quick access to cleaning products.
Cost of Handheld Cleaning Chemicals
Depending on the type of handheld cleaning chemical you get, the cost can vary greatly. For example, a five-gallon bottle of degreaser will likely be more expensive than a one-pint bottle of all-purpose cleaning spray. The specific product and brand can change the price significantly.
Generally, a spray bottle will cost $2–$10 depending on the chosen product. Meanwhile, a larger quantity—such as a one-to-five-gallon pail—might cost $5–$40 depending on the product selected (the wide range is because industrial-grade chemicals are usually more costly than household chemicals).
Keep in mind that different types of chemicals might be on different sides of the spectrum. You can usually expect these numbers, but every brand’s pricing is different, so these ranges can vary.
Cost of a Chemical Dilution System
For a chemical dilution system, the price is measured by the end cost. Usually, chemical dilution systems are provided on a supply agreement, meaning that you pay an upfront monthly fee for the chemicals you will use throughout the month. This creates a higher upfront cost, but a significantly lower end cost.
Many manufacturers and distributors of chemical dilution systems do not publicly disclose their prices, and it would be unethical for us to disclose these prices. Instead, we will give you an idea of the standard price of chemical dilution systems based on the example of our system, One Solution.
For one spray bottle dispensed via One Solution, the price is $0.50–$1.00 (varying based on what chemical you are dispensing). Meanwhile, for a five-gallon mop bucket filled via One Solution, the price is $5.00–$10.00 (also varying based on what chemical you are dispensing).
Because you’re paying for the full month in advance, this system tends to have a higher upfront price than handheld products. However, when it works for your budget, the lower end cost and cost per use can make a significant difference.
